CHCH: Morning People Ōtautahi feat. Beccie B!

Following a short hiatus, Morning People is BACK in the 03, and to celebrate Ōtautahi’s own Beccie B is on DJ duties.

Host of George FM Nights, party curator, promoter and DJ, Beccie B has cemented herself as a tastemaker within the Aotearoa Electronic music space.

No two sets from Beccie are ever the same. With her on stage presence and wide array of tune selection she moves the crowds at every party, keeping her audience on their toes. With support credits to her name from Club Angel, Nikki Nair, Mall Grab, Skin On Skin, to Chaos in the CBD and Frank Booker, her catalog runs deep.

She’s sold out club shows all across Aotearoa, she’s played some of the best festivals in our fine isle including Rhythm and Vines, Home Grown, Electric Avenue, Hidden Lakes, she’s supported dance legends including Fatboy Slim & Basement Jaxx, Peggy Gou and Flume, and on Thursday 8th May she plays Morning People Ōtautahi.

In usual Morning People fashion, dancefloor pressure will be served alongside complimentary Altezano Brothers coffee, All Good bananas and drinks from Karma.

Morning People Ōtautahi is supported by the lovelies at RDU, ka rawe!

AKL: Morning People West feat. Matty the Friend + ZO IRL (B2B): FREE!

AKL: Morning People West feat. Matty the Friend + ZO IRL (B2B): FREE!

Morning People is landing at Corban Estate Arts Centre for a FREE early morning party to celebrate the launch of Stamp the Streets: Henderson Art Quest!

We're bringing two rising stars of the Aotearoa dance scene to the west side: Matty the Friend and ZO IRL, playing back to back in the Barrel Store at Corban Estate Arts Centre - a brick and corrugated iron roofed ex-wine barrel store that we’re converting into a rave cave for one morning only.

DJ and producer Matty the Friend is your go-to guy for melodic cuts and chunky breaks, with a back catalogue of blissed-out house and a track record of lighting up stages at R&V, Le Currents, The Longline Classic and beyond. He’s supported big names like Little Fritter, Camoufly and Skepta (Mas Tiempo) – now he’s bringing his signature warm-and-wiggly sound to Morning People.

ZO IRL is a genre shapeshifter and certified vibe curator. With a crate full of bass-heavy beats, breaky bangers, and emotive techno, ZO has opened for international legends like Joy Anonymous, Salute and Set Mo. You might also know her as half of BUTTERMILK, or from her George FM radio residency.

Together, Matty and ZO IRL are going B2B to serve you a high-energy sonic breakfast – free of charge and full of flavour.

As always, complimentary Altezano Brothers coffee, All Good bananas, and Karma Drinks will be on hand to keep you fuelled.

And stick around after the dance – there’s more to discover.

Morning People West kicks off the launch celebrations for Stamp the Streets: Henderson Art Quest – a creative new way to explore the neighbourhood, inspired by Japan’s iconic train station stamps. Pick up your passport at Morning People and start collecting bespoke art stamps designed by the @Sur-Collective. Discover hidden gems, uncover local stories, and unlock a prize when you complete the trail.

From 10:00am - 2:00pm, wander across the Estate to Opanuku Studio for the Queers and Wares Art Market – packed with local rainbow makers, free art workshops, and plenty more to explore.

Come for the dance, stay for the adventure.
