Grab your mates, your aunties and your uncles and get ready to start Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori with Morning People and UNCLES!

For one very special morning, Morning People is teaming up with Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori to bring you UNCLES - the reo rua dance music supergroup made up of Rei, Swizl Jager and Plastic Pounamu.

Both Rei and Swizl Jager have been dropping reo rua - bilingual te reo Māori bangers - for years, while Plastic Pounamu brings the bass-heavy, dancefloor-ready beats. Together, UNCLES are bringing big reo and big uncle energy to Ōtautahi.

Expect high-energy dance floor pressure, plenty of bass, a dancefloor full of people getting amongst it, and of course te reo Māori - all before most of the city has had their first coffee.

And what better place to do it than inside the incredible glassy surrounds of Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū? We’re turning the gallery into an early-morning dancefloor for one very special celebration of te reo Māori.

Usually $27, this time tickets are pay as you are able, with options ranging from $5 to $25, so more people can join us. If you can afford to pay a little more, your ticket helps us keep Morning People accessible to everyone.

Morning People + Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori feat. UNCLES is made possible with the support of Te Taura Whiri i Te Reo Māori, Kōrero ki Ōtautahi, Te Mātāwai, Kotahi Mano Kāika and Christchurch City Council, alongside our long-time partners in rave RDU 98.5, Altezano Brothers, All Good and Karma Drinks.

As always, expect complimentary coffee, bananas and non-alc drinks, a dancefloor full of good humans and a very good reason to get out of bed ridiculously early.
